Workshop and Paper Presentation at ECSCW 2025

Thomas Neumayr and Frederik Hirschmann attended this year's edition of the European Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Newcastle (UK).

They kicked off the conference by hosting the 2nd International Workshop on Hybrid Collaboration – Analyzing Collaborative Interaction in hybrid fashion, with participants joining remotely from Austria, Finland, and Spain or participating on-site at Newcastle University. The workshop and its participants provided a friendly and engaging space for discussion and exchange of ideas on various aspects of (analyzing) hybrid collaboration.

During the main conference, Frederik Hirschmann presented the exploratory paper From Observation to Automation: AI-Enhanced Analysis of Hybrid Collaboration, discussing the tremendous effort necessary for manually analyzing (hybrid) collaboration episodes and how this work could be (partially) automated by utilizing AI models such as computer vision and GPTs.

The same paper was also accompanied by a poster, which served as a great opportunity for further discussion with interested conference attendants. Overall, Thomas and Frederik had a very inspiring week at the ECSCW. With its engaging keynote speakers, interesting paper presentations, and provocative demos and posters, the conference provided an ideal platform for friendly discussion and networking.
